John Ahrendsen shared about a hairdresser who didn't like babes nsg in
his salon. Here's my letter to the doc who agreed with him in the
paper.

Dr. Paula Bern
c/o Scripps Howard News Service
1090 Vermont Ave NW, Suite 1000
Washington DC 20005

Dr. Bern:

I disagree with your answer to Carl, the hairdresser (3/7/99, Jackson
Citizen Patriot). I think the sound of a nursing baby is a beautiful
sound! However, I hear lots and lots of them and actually they are
pretty quiet.

If Carl really wants to cater to young, working mothers and thinks his
salon is "upscale," he should welcome these mothers with babes in
arms. Young women are generally the ones with babies, and the better
educated, more well-to-do moms are currently the ones doing the most
breastfeeding.

Besides, breastfeeding is good for moms, babies, and the planet and
more and more moms are doing it. Businesses should accept and even
welcome it. Perhaps Carl should only have senior citizens as clients.
But then he runs the risk of having to look at pictures of their
beautiful breastfed grandkids.
