From the International Herald Tribune of May 29th

PARIS. A consumers magazine on Thursday reported high dioxin levels in the
breast milk of French mothers, far exceeding admissible daily norms.

The magazine Que Choisir published the results of tests showing an average
level of 21 picograms of dioxins in the breast milk of 15 women in their
30s who live in both urban and rural areas.

The magazine said the doses of dioxins was 120 times the government-set
admissible daily dose of one picogram per kilogram of bodyweight.

Dioxins are produced by the combustion of plastics and are blamed for
causing cancers and for retarding children's intellectual development. (AFP)

On the other hand - no one mentioned a really good item a few weeks ago on
one of the American news shows - I saw it at 2:30 am Monday morning ( US
Sunday night - delayed broadcast of the 6:30 pm EST news) , think it was
CBS. Spoke about breastfeeding and Rep. Maloney's pending bill. Showed a
mother at home with her family, going to work and pumping in a decent
facility. It was so good I thought I was hallucinating but my husband saw
it as well.

Think we must all be doing something right - every time I see all of this
negative stuff I know someone out there is running scared. When I see the
good stuff I am reminded of all of the good guys out there.
