Dear Friends:
Hmmmm, Barbara is making me wonder. Is prolactin water soluable, so
would filling a woman up with liquid (typically 6-12 pounds worth along with
a hormone) have a negative impact on milk volume increase?
One's blood proteins, osmotic capacities and other biochemical activity
gets changed when there is a lot of fluid on board. Plus the pounding of
pitocin forces fluid into everything. We have already discussed here on
LACTNET about IVs and pitocin inflating infant weights....
     What do you all think?
     Warmly,
Nikki Lee RN, MSN, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CIMI, CCE, craniosacral therapy
