my take on the women and men that have very strong negetive responses
re:the bf question. (excluding sexual abuse situations)
i always ask "what are your thoughts/feelings about bf?" seeking the
specific issue/driving force ie..pain,time,formula is equal, "i heard this
or that.." etc.
normal response is some variation of "YUCK!!!"
i use counseling skills to try to put words to the feelings, open ended
Q's, probing, etc.
most of the time we can get to at least one issue.
i love to put it in a cultural context.  point out the biological norm,
i know i can't change their thoughts - but i can change the way they think
about those thoughts (on a good day)
