I would love some guidance on a case that I am not sure about.
Baby girl was born 5 weeks prem and is term now. She was breastfeeding
well then about two weeks ago she started a funny new pattern. She would
suck a few sucks then fall off. She would make raspberry sounds, getting
no suction but a mouth full of breast. Usually this was occuring with her
night feeds and she would refuse 2-3 feeds for a night then nurse fine for
about 4 days then start it up again. Yesterday she wouldn't feed for 24
hours. She was moved into her own room 3 days ago. Mom at first thought
it was the curry she ate but then the baby was happy to take the ebm from a
bottle. Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Mandi Porta, RN, IBCLC
