Some of my best friends are doctors :-)

I know doctors whose entire practice is in jeopardy because of the truly
impossible insurance premiums they face...because they do c-sections. If
they did none, or did them only when it was a complete emergency (which the
insurance company allows), their premiums would drop like a stone. They do
c-sections so that local moms will have that option without having to
travel farther to a large hospital, and so they can offer continuity of
care through pregnancy and birth to mothers who are at risk for a
c-section. They discourage elective c-sections and they will do VBACs
despite the current medical climate.

Maybe the doctors who support completely elective cesareans are
money-oriented, but there are still lots of doctors out there who aren't
interested in oodles of boodle, just in being good physicians without
getting their clocks cleaned by lawsuits or insurance premiums.
