Rita asks:  "Has anyone had experience with a mom having pain in her foot when breastfeeding?  I received a help call from a mom having "zapping" pain in her foot only.  The pain happens when she nurses, pumps or even touches her nipple.  Stimulates right side, pain in right foot and vice versa.  She has no other complaints and the pain will not keep her from nursing as it subsides after 1-2 minutes, but is annoyed by it." 



I have always had sensation (like a tickling feeling) in my foot when my nipple was stimulated.  I remember this as far back as high school age.  I've always assumed that it was a strange "cross-wiring" causing referred sensation ... like air under the diaphragm causing shoulder pain, or angina causing arm pain.  Over time (3 years nursing #1 and 10 months so far with #2) it has become less noticeable, and I would expect it to become less bothersome for this mom as well.  If nothing else, you can assure her that she's not the only one!!
