She went to a LLL meeting the other day and was really put off by the
overtones of religion in
her local group and is looking for someone a little more "mainstream" for a
pre-baby consult and in case of difficulties.

~~ Lisa,

LLL is not a religious organization. In fact it is the one organization I
know of that has membership across political and religious and cultural and
geographic lines, is as varied as it is and wonderful at keeping on track
for mothers and babies while being so careful about mixing causes and
losing focus. At any meeting there should be tolerance of any and all or no
religious affiliations. Having led many meetings with varied mom and moms-to-be
who were atheist, Christian, Orthodox Jewish, Buddhist, spiritual but not
religiously affiliated, etc all in the same meeting, the Leader is
responsible for making sure the no one feels put off by another participant's
views. I would call the Leader to let her know this mom's experience. If the
Leader was part of it, I would contact her District Advisor or someone at
LLLI.

Peace,
Judy
