Dear Renee, CONGRATULATIONS ! there are quite a few policies and
procedures in the appendix of R & A, BF and Human Lactation, 2nd ed.,
also in text of Counseling the Nursing Mother, 3rd ed., text of BFing the
Newborn: Clin Strategies for Nurses and some articles on policies ,
protocols and change in NAACOG's Clinical Issues in Perinatal and Women's
Health Vol. 3, No. 4, 1992. CNM also has an excellent chapter on change.

You probably need to step in softly, evaluate where they are and get input
from the nurses on what they see as the problems. You might find you are
on two different wavelengths :-) Form a committee to help evaluate
present policies. I guess I am sort of saying don't jump in with both feet
(in your mouth) and tell them everything they do wrong :-) Build on what
they already do right and guide and nudge them into more. Sincerely, Pat
in SNJ
