I think it's fine to discuss formula issues here, as they have an impact on
bf. For example, manufacturers' claims that they have DHA or anything else
in their formulas which make them 'closer' to breast milk than before are
worthy of discussion. Why? Because  health professionals and mothers who
see these claims become *misinformed* about infant feeding.

It seems to me quite obvious that adding anything to formula does not
necessarily make it 'better'  - different, yes, but why better? If DHA or
long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (the latest 'magic'  ingredient in
UK formulas) are not human-sourced, then how on earth  *can* they be the
same?  Even if somehow they are human-sourced (which of course they are
not) , they are bound to act differently when alongside all the other stuff
in formula.

Nutritionally-speaking, breast milk is always going to be more than just
the sum of its parts, and we should be vigilant against claims that it
isn't.
