In addition, assuming it is true that co-sleeping contributed to SIDS in
some of these cases, it might be that there is another confounding variable
that is really the culprit here--for instance, perhaps unsafe bedding and
cosleeping are less safe than safe cosleeping or crib use, or perhaps adult
drug use and cosleeping is less safe than safe cosleeping or crib use.

How can the AAP make such a sweeping statement based on such poor science?
You could make a hundred criticisms of this "study"--from the self reporting
to the lack of a control group.
