Anecdotal, my daughter just had her wisdom teeth out a few weeks ago.  They
told her to put the ice on and take it off on a schedule.  We added cabbage,
organic, so pesticides shouldn't be any issue anyway.  She did well, and
commented every leaf change about how good it felt.  Even as a comfort
measure it worked well, better than the ice.  I can hardly wait to get the
pictures back with her head tied with a dishtowel with cabbage leaves
sticking out while she slept.
She had almost no swelling, a slight amount by the one tooth that had to be
dug out pretty intensely. So knowing how much better it made her face feel
makes me think that it was a great addition.  I recommended it to the
dentist.
