How stressful for this mother!
This happens all too often! If Mom keeps offering, the baby may come around
and start drinking the milk. I usually suggest starting a spillable sippy
cup and putting a small amount of milk in there with meals. My thinking is
when the baby is learning all of these new things - food, high chair, new
cup - they are open to more new things. Lipase flavored milk is just
another new thing for the baby to experiment with.

Some babies respond to mixing with fresh and others don't. Mothers have
told me that any amount of thawed milk in fresh will be refused by the
baby. Many babies will gradually start to drink the lipase milk.

When I first discovered my soapy milk, I threw away a few bottles. When I
realized it was all like that, I gave it to my son and he drank it no
problem. As we know, some babies are more particular and don't come around
easily.

When mothers tell me they are storing milk and not having to use it, I
suggest they start to offer a bottle or two of thawed EBM each week to keep
the baby accustomed to the flavor and to cycle through the stock. This will
help her know if her milk changes and warn of potential problems. She can
then start to scald the milk before freezing, if needed.
Another thing I like to discuss is - have you smelled and tasted formula?
Not so pleasant to us. Babies learn to love the stuff. Although babies
develop a strong preference for fresh we may be able to coax them into
drinking thawed milk.

If nothing works, Mom could donate her milk. The milk banks really need
donations.
Hope that helps and good look to this mother and baby!
