Many of us are aware that vitamins degrade in storage and lose their
strength.

In order for formulas to meet the dosages listed on their labels until their
expiration date, they must contain much more when packaged. It would be an
interesting study to see how much excessive vitamin consumption occurs in
infants who take recently-produced formula as their exclusive nutrition. As
most vitamins are water-soluble they will be removed by the baby's kidneys
with (probably?) no negative effects, but I believe this is not so Vitamin
D, which is fat soluble.
