Not been officially (and educated) counseling that long but I have a great
friend who has an older nursing child.  In her situation where she has 2
kids, the younger one nurses less frequently than the older one.  I can't
imagine any mother who would gladly nurse an older child without encouraging
them in some way to wean.  And at the same time I can't see coercing an
older child to nurse.... I have a child almost 4, I can't get him to pick up
his toys let alone nurse!  While I am sure coercion occurs I am trying to
see how it would happen short of threatening this child, and there hasn't
been anything in the media about just how this mom "forced" herself on her
child.
