I feel like those people who call into talk radio and state: Hello I'm a
first time caller. Well, Hello I'm a first time poster. I have been lurking
for many months and I have to say how uncanny it is how you all know what
issues I am dealing with and post to them directly. It really is a small
world. One of the themes recently has been slow growing babies and I wanted
to share this story. My first baby(now 22)was very small, totally breastfed,
and on the 5% or less side of the growth curve. I was sharing my concern(I
wasn't educated in lactation at the time) with my husband's Aunt and she
shared this information. My husband's Aunt is 4ft 9in and her husband is 5ft
4in. When her first baby was about 6 months old she took her to the Dr. and
said she was worried because her baby was so much smaller than other babies
of her age. The Dr. told her, "Mrs. S, you are a small woman and your
husband is a small man. We are not raising cattle here!" Bigger isn't
always better.
Thanks so much to all of you who post and enlighten us. I have enjoyed this
venue of learning immensly.
