This mother, and every women who finds herself pregnant while still nursing an older baby/toddler/child would benefit greatly from reading the book "Adventures in Tandem Nursing" by Hilary Flower. I tell all mothers whom I am recommending this book to, that it spends much of the first half discussing breastfeeding during pregnancy and the other half on tandem nursing (because I think many women initially shy away from even the thought of tandem nursing).

This is a great book and should be regularly recommended by lactation professionals.

I was only skimming and didn't read Angela Alfe's original post thoroughly. The
child is 12 mos old, still very interested in breastfeeding, mother wants to
continue, but is concerned that the number of wet diapers has decreased, and
wonders whether almond milk and water in an SNS would be a way to get more
fluids into the child without compromising breastfeeding.

I'd want more information before I was convinced there was even a problem. I
would like to know whether there is reason to be concerned about the child's
growth since mother's new pregnancy, and whether urine output is really
decreased or if child is consolidating by voiding larger amounts less often.

Until then I'd advocate a KISS approach (keep it simple, sweetie!) and offer
the child water by cup whenever solids are given. Almond milk? How simple is
that?
