Hello all,

I am hoping someone from in or around Kansas City Missouri may be able to
help me. I am wondering about birth and breastfeeding practices at Shawnee
Medical Center. I have a friend who will have a scheduled c-section at 37
weeks. I am hoping to be there to support her and advocate for her and
her baby with regard to breastfeeding, etc., but she has not yet decided
wether she wants me to come (i live several states away). Does anyone have
first-hand experience with the hospital in general, with infant/mother care
practices in oarticular, and specifically with how the staff/hospital
policies support (or do not support) breastfeeding - especially in the case
of a c-section baby who may be small and will definitely be 3 weeks early!?

any wonderful IBCLCs, pediatricians, and/or maternity nurses out there in
lactnet land, kansas city who might be good people for my friend to hook up
with, or at least who can inform me about general practices at that
hospital. any OBs or pediatricians to definitely stay away from wrt
breastfeeding info and support?

you can email me privately if you like, at [log in to unmask] so as not to
hospital/doctor bash publicly - or maybe all the news will be good news and
you can post to lactnet!

thanks in advance!
