I have seen this during my clinical practicum at LI, and heat does indeed
seem to soothe it. Mothers do best when they keep the breast not in use
covered up, and when they try to avoid drafts and other sources of cold
while breastfeeding. Application of heat, then quick dry and cover-up of
the breast, seem to relieve the symptoms.
