Hi,

I have two questions about milk storage/handling - first of all,  I need the reference which states that milk which has been <50% thawed can be refrozen. It is not in the 2005 HMBNA Best Practise book (at least I'm not seeing it there). If anyone knows where I can find that reference, I would be most grateful.

I also have another situation in which a mother worked very hard to pump her breastmilk for her NICU baby. The baby was transferred to another facility, and is back home. Our NICU still has the milk, and it is now 4 months old. Since it was in a deep freezer unit, this milk should be good for 12 months. Mom wants to pick up the milk, put it on dry ice, and transport it back to her home, which is 3 hours away. She will be putting this milk into a normal freezer, NOT a deep freeze. How long can the milk continue to be stored if it is not in the deep freeze?
