Hi there

I am curious as to those units that are using the dextrose gel. Is this the same red colored cherry flavored gel that contains BPA's that adults use for hypoglycemia if they are at risk?

Also, do you use it in isolation of formula use or do you use it in conjunction with formula use? At one of the nearby hospitals they use it in conjunction with formula, so a baby with a low blood sugar gets a double whammy of foreign substances into their gut in order to raise their sugars...

Also, the gel is used by drying the inside of the cheek and then rubbing it into the mucous membranes for maximum absorption. Do we know if there are any studies that look at administering colostrum in the same way to see if it is more effective than if just swallowed?

Still too many questions regarding treatment of hypoglycemia IMO, and no good answers yet...

thanks,
Sonya
