I have recently started running a small new mom's support group at the
hospital where I work. The group runs from 9:30 - 11:30 or morning a
week, and I am including an educational portion in the morning
at some time. Since this week is World Breastfeeding MWeek, I was
thinking of focusing on breastfeeding in my educational piece. The only
problem is that not all the moms are breastfeeding in my group. The moms
that *are* breastfeeding are well established...I usually try to talk
individually to them and they seem to be doing well.

Here are my questions:
1) What sorts of things to moms who are breastfeeding already need to know?
What would be most helpful to them? The ages of the infants and toddlers
vary from one month to 28 months; the majority of the children are about 6
months old I would say. If you had the opportunity to talk to moms in this
group about breastfeeding, what would you focus on? All you LLL leaders out
there, what does LLL teach moms who are currently breastfeeding?

2) How can I present this material in a way that does not offend the moms
that are not breastfeeding? The majority of my moms *are* breastfeeding,
and interestingly enough, the two that are not both tried to breastfeed
but "couldn't" because "the baby wasn't satisfied" and "I had to supplement"
(which burns me...just a little education and these babies would be getting
mom's milk too).. What information would be useful to them?

Thanks so much for your input. I appreciate being able to tap into so
much experience!
