I've often meant to post about this type of thing. You have to know that
professional sales reps, sales managers, VP's of marketing etc move from
industry to industry - the product may change, but the skills and thought
processes on how to sell a product, stay the same. The product and market
is analysed, to develop a sales strategy.

Many products have some degree of ethical question attached to them. For
example, I used to sell photocopiers, and as I person who hates the waste of
resources, I sometimes questioned what I was doing selling a product that
essentially made it so easy to waste paper and create advertising that is
not even read. Other salespeople may not have any concerns about it at all.
I can see how an experienced sales person or marketing manager could move
into the infant formula industry, and just treat it as a job change, and
dismiss any ethical concerns.

My livelihood and profession is based on a belief in the competitive free
market system (including the freedom to advertise as one wishes). *I* have
had to think about and question WHY formula advertising is different than
any other product. (don't email me, I know the answer to "why"!)

Similarly, many investors and fund managers would only think about the
earning potential of the company, and may have little knowledge or interest
in what they are investing in.

I'd like to know if AIM is the ONLY product to have a Code, like the WHO
Code, regulating its advertising?
