So true. If bfing has a bad reputation among nurses and other hcps,
then it's hard to promote it among mothers in the first hours and days
after birth. I feel very lucky that I came from a long line
of bfing women and it never occurred to me that I would feed
my kids any other way. I'm sure that is part of the
reason I didn't have any problems nursing, not the whole reason,
but a good part of it.

Amen to that.

In fact, the less they hear about the difficult cases, the better.
HCPs are part of the same culture as the rest of us and so many
difficulties
are culturally created and managed. Nurses and other hcps should be
taught the basics of bfing support and to know when to refer to
someone with training and expertise in lactation.
