Cindy I totally agree with you!  We used to see so much rebound hypoglycemia
where I used to work when using glucose water to treat it.  It's like eating
pastries & juice only for breakfast then having that mid morning crash!
Colostrum is the newborn's complete food - like a good breakfast that also
has protein and keeps us up all morning.

Liz:  Lawrence does mention the possible week's separation for treatment
with active pulmonary TB in the 4th edition.  BAB also discusses it. But
basically if mom & baby are permitted to be in contact, they are permitted
to breastfeed.
