I was shocked to hear my child's dentist say today that the AAPD 
recommends NO breastfeeding after 18 months old.  HUH?

I went to their website, and it's worse than that.  They have several 
erroneous statements, but this one is just shocking to me: "At-will 
nighttime breast-feeding should be avoided after the first primary 
(baby) teeth begins to erupt."  (www.aapd.org)  I mean what about 
babies getting teeth at 3 months old; what then?

What's the deal?  Where do I find info to give to this dentist?   I've 
read the info in _Mothering Your Nursing Toddler_.  Is there  a LLL 
Tear Sheet?  Does the AAP have a statement on this issue?  Any other 
info anywhere?

Mind you, I'm not talking about dental caries.  We're talking massive 
tooth decay on a very very healthy whole foods diet and with teeth 
brushing.  I believe the decay is caused by silent reflux.  My dentist 
believes that it is caused by "at will nursing."  I'm worried she will 
give this erroneous information to other mothers.  AND even though she 
is one of the few dentists in town to allow parents in the room with 
children, this information is enough to make me not go back, even 4000$ 
later.
