Re: the 11 month old who is nursing only one time a day, in the morning.

Firstly, this is NOT a nursing strike. A nursing strike would be if the
baby suddenly stopped nursing completely. A baby nursing AT ALL, even if
only one time a day, is not on a nursing strike.
Second, you say the baby eats table food throughout the day and has
bottles (or cups?) of juice after refusing the breast.

sounds to me like this baby has been weaning for probably several months
now, and has naturally arrived at the point where she is down to the
last nursing to remain before complete weaning occurs. The morning
nursing is often the last to go, ( other common ones being before
naptime, or before bedtime in the evening).
I am sure the mom does not have a big milk supply at this point, what
with the baby nursing only once a day. . . even if she pumps and gets
the supply built up. . . she cannot MAKE the baby nurse more frequently.
The baby is getting enough table food and other liquids to meet her
needs and the one remaining nursing is a small part of her overall food
intake(I am assuming here that the child IS healthy , growing normally,
well-fed).

This is probably a case where the parents, with all good intentions,
introduced solids at 6 months or whenever, gradually increasing the
amount over time, such that we arrive at 11 months old and the baby is
basically getting what she needs from sources other that the breast. . .
the parents maybe did not intend to wean the baby, but that is what is
happening.
Note: I am not implying it is bad to introduce solids at 6 months!!!

Having the mom take brewer's yeast. . . I assume to increase her supply.
. . I don't really think that is worth the bother. Even if her supply is
increased, she would have to make a really big effort to interest the
baby in nursing more frequently. At 11 mos. old, the baby will be very
distractable. . . we are not talking about a small infant here. . . to
get an 11 mon. old to nurse when she doesn't want to would be really
difficult. . .
What she can do now. . . is to maintain that one remaining morning
nursing. . . that will be a very special time for mom and baby. Don't
change the morning routine or the baby may lose interest. . . i.e. don't
start to give the baby food or drinks in the morning before the nursing,
or she may lose interest in nursing. If they nurse in bed in the morning.
. . keep that the same. . . or if it's in the rocker in the baby's room.
. . or wherever. Just keep the morning nursing routine the same.

As for the SNS. . . this situation is not really one that the SNS was
intended for.You basically have a baby almost completely weaned here,
there is not much you can do to reverse that (in this case, with an
older baby).Even if the mom used the SNS, if the baby is nursing only
once a day, using the SNS once a day is not going to have much affect on
the milk supply.

This mom will need lots of emotional support . . . as she has to come to
terms with the fact that baby is almost weaned. On the other hand, there
is still that one nursing that remains, and who knows, it could be
another year before the baby drops that remaining nursing.

Good luck,
