Ann:  Has the family tried not using laundry detergent or fabric softener?
There are alternatives (bion disks for one).  At the very least they should
switch to a hypoallergenic detergent and do double rinsing.  Also, try
linking the mom up with the Feingold Association.  This would be a pathetic
reason to stop bf.  All three of my kids react to laundry additives.  In
the hospital we all suffered from contact dermatitis.  The mom might also
want to try some homeopathic APIS for the baby.  I'm assuming that there's
no diaper rash...if there is then investigate yeast too.
