What a good answer the Lutheran minister gave about BFing in church.  This is
a pet peeve of mine, too.  We always have several nursing moms in our
congregation and most jump up and go to the "nursing mother's room" at the
first whimper.  Most of our church buildings (LDS) have special rooms set up
with rocking chairs for nursing but I personally think that a loving
Heavenly Father would WANT to see His children nursed in church!! If for no
other reason, to reinforce to future mothers  that breastfeeding is not
sexual but healthy and wholesome AND NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF OR EMBARRASSED
ABOUT.  To me, the men (and some women!!) who might be embarrassed "own" the
problem, not the mother.  Churches should do all they can to encourage
breastfeeding.  Of course, the baby Jesus was breastfed. And I am positive
Mary did not have a medicated birth!

BTW, I am writing a book that explores the "spiritual side" of
breastfeeding. Many mothers have said to me that peacefully nursing a child
in the middle of the night has come as close to being a spiritual experience
as anything they have ever done.  Agree?  IF any of you have any ideas or
stories about this, please E mail me privately. I would appreciate any input.
