Well I went to my trusty Merriam-Webster dictionary. It says a clinician "is one qualified in the field of clinical practice of medicine, psychiatry, or psychology as distinguished from one specializing in laboratory or research techniques."

So in the broadest sense of the word, LCs are clinicians because we work with mothers and babies, not test tubes and petri dishes. (and we use facets of medicine, psychiatry and psychology :-)

It is a matter of language and I know there are many out there who abhor the medicalization of lactation
Lactation is an extremely broad topic, pulling in knowledge from just about every field.
Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
