Sore Nipples" by Kathleen Huggins, RN MS and Sharon F. Billon MD.

"...Perhaps some or all of the inflammation these mothers continued to
experience after treatment with topical nystatin cream was a dermatitis
produced by a hyper sensitivity to the preservatives used in some of the
nystatin formulations.  Ethylenedimine, parabens, and thimerisol in some of
the formulations have been associated with a high incidence of contact
dermatitis.  Nystatin topical cream and ointment produced by Westwood-Squibb
(Mycostatin) and Lederle (Nilstat) do not contain these preservatives...."
