The conflict arises from what the company that makes the contrast is
trying to do. They are not interested in breastfeeding and they are not
interested in the baby or the mother. They are interested in their
medical legal "risk". The fact that babies get this contrast for CT
scans all the time; the fact the amount the baby gets through the milk,
even if it is excreted into the milk, is tiny; the fact that there is no
evidence that it would be toxic; the fact that the absorption from the
baby's gut is likely to be very little; the fact that the baby will then
get a drug (formula), which has known, serious side effects--all this is
meaningless for the company. They don't want to take responsibility.
And radiologists read this stuff and then parrot "Uh huh, uh huh,
yesseree Bob, got to stop breastfeeding for 24 (36, 48, 72 etc) hours".
