My  biggest complaint is that the more a mom "needs" them (i.e. the flatter 
her  nipples) the harder they are to keep "on target".  They tend to slip  
around in the bra so that they are applying pressure anywhere except where  
they are supposed to be helping.  The only possible use I see is to keep  
clothing off healing nipples.
 
~~~ Someone gave me a set when my son was newborn ( 1986). My nipples were  
very flat plus I was pathologically engorged to a  horrible degree. I wore 
them for a minute or two before  offering the breast, and I think they were 
RPSing for me...:) After a few days,  no need.
