Alice asks about any way of treating pumped milk of mom whose baby developed colitis because the milk was pumped before mom eliminated dairy from her diet. Joan Fisher talked about this at the ILCA conference last summer. She mentioned having some success by treating the milk with lactase drops.
I would have to listen to the tape again to hear how many drops she said she used, although I do remember her saying she was just trying this and still adjusting the 'dosage'. I could get more info if someone else doesn't post more in-depth. This session was very good -as were most that I
attended!- and worth getting the tape for. It was on managing breastfeeding in difficult situations. This is old news, I know, but I learned so much at the conference that I have shared with other LC's here that didn't get to go! I'm already feeling the disappointment of knowing how much I'll
miss by not attending the Sydney conference!
