Dear Cheryl,
No, this mom hasn't done a taste test, although that's an interesting
idea. I thought that the lipase problem was related to freezing the milk.
Does some fresh milk become soapy as well?
I'm thinking that a culture might be a good idea, even without
symptoms of mastitis, as many people have identified globby milk as a marker
of mastitis in dairy animals and in women.
I also wonder if it's possible that she is expressing the globs, but
not noticing until after pumping, but you'd think that there would be some
evidence such as plugged pores or identifiable strings that she'd notice.
This is interesting, but dontcha hate it when the unit turns
expectantly to the LC, sure that she'll know, and she hasn't a clue? Life is
humbling!
