I saw Catherine's post about the woman in the Bronx and the homicide
charge. I must admit that I thought the same thing. But my first thought
was wondering whether or not this mom was on WIC. A director from another
agency called around and no one had her on their program. We provide
lactation help for free for anyone on our program. Even women who are not
on our program can get help for free from the outpatient facility to which
we are attached. There is free, no questions asked options for women out
there, but unfortunately they don't always have the personal resources to
find them! I was filled with sorrow for this family, especially because I
know it could have been avoided it only she had known who to call. So
sad!!

We do a great deal of community outreach, with flyers in both English and
Spanish, in a very friendly way. I wonder what makes women choose not to
avial themselves of the services we provide?

PS-This is a very introspective time of year for Jews all over the world.
As I begin my fast tonight, I will think of all of you, whom I admire so
much, and keep you all in my prayers-that you all have a year full of love,
happiness, prosperity and most of all peace.
