Dear Friends:
     Fiona wonders about other species and tandem nursing.
     Isn't one of the pecularities about humans as a species the fact that we
will mate while lactating? Don't other primates avoid mating until the
hormonal picture favors estrus? So perhaps tandem nursing isn't an issue for
them because their wiring precludes getting pregnant while nursing?
     Help, Kathy Dettwyler?
