 Arrrgh Headlice again.
I tried to search the archives on this and had a real hard time. You
have to type single quote space lice space single quote or headlice and
spaces inside the quotes or you will get all sorts of stuff about
licensing or police or Alice or whatever. Any way our family recently
dealt with this distressing problem. I contacted pharmacists, physicians,
and public health nurses. What confusion!!! The fact that I was nursing
further confused the issue . All of the special shampoo contains toxic
pesticides of some type. Nothing is 100% effective at killing the bugs
despite package claims. The federal trade commission is investigating
these claims. We finally contacted the National Pediculosis Associatiion.
The single most effective thing you can do is manually remove all live
bugs and nits. An impossible night mare if you try to use some of the
torture instruments we did. The NPA has the necessary combing tool and
the right information. They were very helpful. I urge anyone with
questions to contact the NPA at phone (617) 449- Nits or www.headlice.org
By the way Deborah Altschuler , President of NPA has been a volunteer
for 15 years!!
Trying to protect the children, trying to get the word out one family at
a time . A lot like alot of you on Lactnet. Thanks Deborah !!!
