We have a donor milk program for our babies in the NICU. We want to start a slow weaning process if the mother is not going to breastfeed once we get them to 34 weeks. So any of you have a policy for weaning or coud you help me find some evidence about  slow weaning rather than an aburpt stopping. what we have heard from others is that htey do it over an eight day  process. However our Neo's just want to stop cold turkey.
I am asoos trying to get them for the term babies that go to the NICU for observation to stop feeding so much formula in one day tey can be up to 30mls at 24 hours if not more and we all know that a new mother dosen't make that much. I have found some information about stomach size however I am looking for some evidence based info about feeding amts.
