Hello Esther,

I have just googled a little bit on this disturbing news. I found a report
http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/cgi/content/full/105/2/379
in which it is stated: "Two different formulas, Similac and Enfamil, were used during the study
period. The substrate composition is very similar in both formulas. It is unlikely that changing
from Similac to Enfamil accounted for the large observed differences in the incidence of
NEC."

I found more reports with similac, breastmilk and NEC, but this is the only one I found (in a
quick search) that has used different formula's, one of which is Similac.
I wonder why they thought it was unlikely that changing formula's wasn't the reason for the
large differences in the incidence of NEC.
