Dear Jan,

I don't see anything in any of the information that you sent that would
positively account for a physical reason for this mom's inability to produce
milk. My own suspicion is that the negative support she received played the
biggest role, coupled with baby's possible problems. My own course would be
to stress the positives and can-do's. The fact that she has experienced more
changes in her breast is something that can really encourage *her*. There is
a lot to be said for the power of positive thinking (and negative thinking,
too; that can have a powerful *negative* effect!) and this mom's confidence
sorely needs propping up. Perhaps emphasize that this is a different baby,
even a different mom: more educated, more committed. Moving past her negative
experience may be very necessary for her to succeed this time, plus receiving
*lots* of support!

Just my .02,
Ann Davis, LLLL, Dayton, Ohio (hey, we're practically neighbors!)
