I would caution against giving honey to a child under 1 year, because
they are at higher risk for botulism. Maybe jam instead?

Subject: Re: Weaning 7 month off sheild... is it possible?

Hi Karyn-Grace,

I weaned my nine-month old (maybe it was even ten months) off the nipple
shield. He was bottle-fed for nine months (we adopted him) and then
brought to breast with nipple shield and supplementer. About a month
later, I wanted to remove the shield. We went all day without it, and
finally, at the end of my rope, I put a dab of honey on my nipple. He
tasted it, got milk at the same time, and went without the shield from
that day on.

This story is not identical to your client's, but maybe shares some
aspect which may be helpful?

Wendy
