I just wanted to state that these drugs have serious psychotropic effects. I have and a couple of mothers become seriously, dangerously depressed while taking metocloprimide (Reglan). So if a mother has any history of depression, think about this carefully. Not all mothers admit to post partum depression. If you are going to prescribe metocloprimide, screen very carefully for depression.

Anti-psychotic medications, like risperidone do stimulate milk supply but these are HEAVY DUTY medications. The side effects are very serious (look it up!). If someone is having a psychotic episode it is worth the risks of side effects but with other options available, I would be hard pressed to recommend this for milk supply issues. It makes weight gain from Domperidone seem like a cake walk!

I am not sure it I should mention a brand name here, but there is a very effective herbal tincture available in the US (I'm not sure about elsewhere--sorry). Patients have recommended it to me, and I have given information to patients about it for many years (along with all the others we've talked about). My daughter is still breastfeeding her 17 month old thanks to this tincture (she also has hypoplastic breasts), so I can attest to its effectiveness. She tried to decrease the dosage and immediately saw a decrease in supply. So here is my anecdotal study of one (along with many happy clients). We did lengthy research regarding galactogogues and tried this tincture first. Domperidone was next on the list but we never had to go there.....

If you want the name of this product email me privately.
