I appreciate the outpouring of support for the situation of the
breastfeeding mother who is the daughter of a colleague of Esther, a
cherished LN subscriber, and I do not wish in any way to belittle the
gruesome losses to all the families whose members were killed in Jerusalem
on that bus last Tuesday.  Women and children are the most vulnerable
victims in all violent conflicts and they seem to be disproportionately
involved considering they are rarely combatants.
I do wish to gently remind you all that the topic of LN is breastfeeding and
respectfully suggest that if you wish to send condolences that may go beyond
the focus of LN, you use private e-mail.  Specific responses about the woman
with injuries to her lactating breasts are of course welcome.
As remote as it may seem, even offering condolences after a tragedy such as
this, on the list, can be perceived as political in a way that would seem
exclusionary to some subscribers.  That's why we try to keep the focus on
breastfeeding, the one thing we all agree we support wholeheartedly.

prepared to hear from you and will handle all comments seriously and
respectfully, and off the list.
