I have a mom that I have been in contact with for over 6 months
(started as a help form and now we correspond frequently - she lives
in a very rural area of Canada where there is no hospital much less
LLL group not to mention LC.) Anyway, she was mowing her lawn
yesterday and the gas can slipped and she was covered with gasoline.
She went in and showered, but everytime she tried to nurse her 7
month old he would throw up. She has been pumping and dumping and
feeding her son formula which he has been able to keep down. He is
becoming angry and wanting the breast, but she is concerned about
whether her milk is contaminated and how long she should wait until
she nurses him again.

If anyone knows the answer to this let me know ASAP via private mail
as I know she is very anxious. Is there such a thing or is it a
coincidence? Also if her milk could have gotten contaminated how
long should she wait to nurse (continuing to pump and dump) and what
could she have done to better lessen the effects of the
contamination? This mom has worked against all kinds of adversity to
establish and maintain a nursing relationship and is afraid that this
one incident could ruin all that.

Thanks all.
