Dear Friends:
    I agree with Ann Perry that it makes sense if mom is already doing RPS,
to continue and hand express to collect the small amount that will come in the
first few days.
    If the nipples are being stimulated, and the milk is being removed on a
regular basis (140-160 minutes over 24 hours), it doesn't matter if it is by
hand or by a pump if it can't be by a baby.
    Actually, hand expressing might make it easier to stimulate the nipple
for a little bit every hour, which is more like a baby would feed, instead of
for 10-15 minutes every 3 hours. It is also immediately gratifying and increases
the chances of catching every precious drop, instead of trying to scrape
those drops off a flange or retrieve them from a flask.
