I echo these sentiments.  Another thing to consider is.....what is "optimal"
gain?  Are we still looking to charts and patterns to give confirmation that
gain is great?  We should be looking at the babies and the wettings.  I see
an awful lot of harm being done with the use of charts and very little good.
If a baby is truly ill and there are problems, you don't need to place them
on a chart or even chart weekly gain to see the evidence of it.  On the other
hand.....I wouldn't recommend supplementing if the ONLY evidence of a problem
is that a baby isn't keeping up with "the charts".
