Hi, all: I couldn't find this in the archives. I have been asked by the
mother of an 8-week-old exclusively bf baby how long it will take for her
nipple sensitivity to go away. She has no pain during nursing, but her
nipples are otherwise sensitive to even the lightest touch, even cloth
brushing up against them. They are not red, itchy or painful. I have no
experience with this, since most mothers I know have not complained of
this sort of thing. Their nipples tend to become less sensitive over
time, or so I thought. Any ideas? TIA, Alicia Dermer, MD, IBCLC in
bright, sunny, springy New Jersey.
