Some breastfeeding advocates here had suggested working to get a
breastfeeding U.S. postage stamp. I initially thought that would take an
awful lot of work and maybe not make much real difference in breastfeeding
rates. But a recent article in a local newspaper mentioned that stamp
subjects are chosen from suggestions sent in the 40,000 letters received
annually. So there's not much to lose and maybe it would be successful.
For those who like to send off letters, the address to suggest a postal
stamp honoring (or celebrating?) breastfeeding is: James Tolbert, Stamp
Advisory Committee, 475 L'Enfant Plaza S.W., Washington, DC 20260.
