While there is a lot of research about why it doesn't work I understand why parents think it does. I've seen it happen with friends babies, once they switch to formula the baby sleeps longer. For about a week, then the other reasons that make babies wake at night start all over again and they go back to the regular waking cycle. So they hear from other parents how it worked (those LC's will say it doesn't, but our baby slept longer) but never ask for how long or they don't want to say that the babies woke up again, because it worked for everyone else's baby.
